Ishrat earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has been actively involved in academia and research since 2015, contributing to a range of projects focused on mental health and wellbeing in Bangladesh. She also has extensive teaching experience, having previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Dhaka.
Currently, Ishrat is pursuing her PhD in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at King’s College London, supported by the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK. Her doctoral research explores mental health challenges and support preferences among British Bangladeshi youth, with the aim of co-designing a culturally grounded brief problem-solving intervention. Ishrat’s broader research interests include participatory and qualitative methods, youth mental health, and the co-production of interventions with marginalised communities.
