Ms Daniela Trujillo
Daniela’s experience focuses on social and educational psychology research, particularly the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes on socio-emotional skills, mental health, and bullying prevention among children and adolescents from vulnerable communities. She is also an experienced consultant in the areas of public policy, peace construction, and civic participation. She currently works as an Associate Research Manager at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) Colombia, leading projects on mental health and socio-emotional skills among adolescents.
She holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the LSE in London and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin. Previously, she obtained a BA in Psychology and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.
Daniela's PhD is based on the “Improving Adolescent mentaL health by tackling the Impact of PoVErty” (ALIVE) project, which has the objective of improving the mental health of adolescents by addressing the impact of poverty and improving their self-regulation skills. Her PhD aims to improve our understanding of the conceptualisation, characteristics and measurement of psychological poverty traps, and the interventions needed to break psychological poverty traps in Colombia, Nepal and South Africa.
She has worked as an advisor to the Colombian Minister of Health, the National Department of Public Service, and the Director of the Office for Corruption Prevention in Bogotá. Daniela has also worked as a research assistant at the Berlin Centre for Social Research, evaluating new citizen participation practices emerging in Latin America.
