PHFI-UK Consortium Capacity Strengthening Programme
The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine has a long-standing institutional partnership with Public Health Foundation India (PHFI). Building institutional capacity for research and training is a top priority, and the PHFI-UK consortium, which is based at the School and funded by the Wellcome Trust, is dedicated to strengthening the research and teaching skills of PHFI faculty in India.
The Wellcome Trust funded a 5-year collaborative programme to support the capacity-building aims of the PHFI in December 2008. An extension grant was awarded in 2013 to build on the earlier WT award by strengthening the research competency of returning and recently recruited PhDs and helping them become fully-fledged, independent researchers.
